The healthcare and medical practice are now at a crossroad transforming from experience- basis to evidence-based. P4 (predictive, preventative, personalized, participatory) medicine aiming to detect and prevent disease through extensive biomarker testing, close monitoring, deep statistical analysis, and patient health coaching has been a joint endeavour by healthcare, medicine, and data science research communities, as a part of the journey towards the transformation of evidence-based medicine. In this talk, we will present and discuss our recent works in this endeavour, including several industry-connected research projects on the real-world healthcare problems, with a focus on human-centered intelligent data analytics. These typical works reflect our philosophy of AI research - AI by humanity, for humanity and in service to humanity.

报告人简介：

Dr. Xiaohui Tao is Full Professor with School of Mathematics, Physics and Computing, University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), Australia. He is Chair of ICT Programs’ Governance and Leadership Committee and the Leader of Computing Discipline in UniSQ. Prior to these leadership positions, he was Program Director of Master of Data Science, Master of Information Technology, and Master of Science in UniSQ in 2016–2020. Tao is an active researcher in AI. His research interest covers data analytics, machine learning, knowledge engineering, natural language processing, and health informatics. His research outcomes have been published in 160+ papers across many top-tier journals (such as TKDE, INFFUS, IPM, TETCI) and conferences (such as AAAI, IJCAI, ICDE, CIKM). Tao is leading a research group that develops algorithms and systems with real-world impact. He has successfully supervised eight Ph.D. students to completion. Tao is the recipient of an Australia Research Council Grant, an Australian Endeavour Research Fellowship, along with several other awards granted by international conferences like ACMHN’22, BESC’22, BI’21, WI-IAT’20, and WISE’20 and ’19. Tao is Vice Chair of IEEE Technical Committee of In- telligent Informatics (TCII) and Senior Member of both IEEE and ACM. Tao is Editor-in-Chief of Natural Language Processing Journal, Elsevier and Managing Editor of Web Intelligence (CCF C). He has also served PC Chair/Co-chair in CBD’22, WI-IAT’21, BESC’21 and ’18, and WI’18 and ’17. Tao received his Ph.D. in Information Technology from Queensland University of Technology, Australia in 2009.
